Your showings are already on your calendar. Your IRS mileage log should be too.
For real estate agents and showing assistants. The hard part is the end of the year: reconstructing every showing into a log you can hand over when someone asks for it. SheetMiles is a Google Sheets add-on that reads the addresses on your Google Calendar events and writes an IRS-format mileage log, with date, destination, business purpose, miles and the IRS standard rate for each trip date.

How it works
1. Start from the calendar
Pick the calendar where showings live, and a date range. Events with a street address become stops. Zoom, Meet and phone events are skipped.
2. Confirm the trips that aren't clear
A keyword such as "showing" or "client", or a #business tag, files the trip as business. A trip that matches nothing is marked "review", with no amount, until you confirm the category.
3. Get the IRS-format log in Sheets
Each leg gets driving miles from Google Maps, a category and the IRS rate in force on that date, in the spreadsheet you have open. Download a PDF or CSV, or get last month's log emailed to you on the 1st.

Example rows from a fictional week of showings. No real client names.
| Date | Vehicle | Start | Destination | Business purpose | Category | Miles | IRS rate | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-06-18 | Car | Office | 18 Maple St, Worcester, MA | Buyer showing | business | 6.0 | $0.725 | $4.35 |
| 2026-06-18 | Car | 18 Maple St, Worcester, MA | 42 Pine St, Worcester, MA | Client showing | business | 4.0 | $0.725 | $2.90 |
| 2026-07-09 | Car | Home | 7 Birch Ave, Worcester, MA | Site visit | business | 11.0 | $0.760 | $8.36 |
Example rows. The IRS business rate was 72.5¢/mile for Jan 1 – Jun 30, 2026 and is 76¢/mile from Jul 1, 2026 (IRS). SheetMiles applies the right one by trip date. A trip that matches no keyword, such as an open house with no tag, stays on "review" with no amount until you confirm it.
Questions
Which data do you read? The events on the calendar and date range you choose: title, description, location, start time, and your own RSVP (declined invitations are skipped). That runs inside your Google account. SheetMiles writes the log only into the spreadsheet you have open, and it never creates, changes or deletes events. Calendar events, addresses and the log are not sent to our servers. Our server only receives your Google account email, to check your trial or subscription. The full list is in the privacy policy.
Do ambiguous trips need confirmation? Yes. A business keyword (the defaults include "showing" and "client") or a #business tag files the trip as business. A trip that matches nothing, or only a hint such as "open house", is marked "review" and no amount is included until you confirm the category in the sidebar or set the Category cell.
What if I want a refund? Email [email protected] within 7 days of any charge (first payment, monthly charge or yearly renewal) for a full refund. Refunding a charge cancels the subscription and ends paid access. Details are in our terms.
Is this tax advice? No. SheetMiles is a record-keeping tool, not tax, legal or accounting advice. It writes an IRS-format log and applies the published IRS standard mileage rate for the trip date. Ask a tax professional about your own situation. The IRS describes what a mileage record should contain in Publication 463.
